One Co-Host Leaves "The Chew"

Celebrity chef Mario Batali has stepped away from his restaurant businesses and his duties as co-host of ABC’s “The Chew” amid allegations of sexual misconduct.  Four women have accused him of groping and inappropriate touching, and at least three of them have worked for him.  Batali apologized in a statement, saying the accusations sound accurate:  "I apologize to the people I have mistreated and hurt. Although the identities of most of the individuals mentioned in these stories have not been revealed to me, much of the behavior described does, in fact, match up with ways I have acted. That behavior was wrong and there are no excuses. I take full responsibility and am deeply sorry for any pain, humiliation or discomfort I have caused to my peers, employees, customers, friends and family.  I have work to do to try to regain the trust of those I have hurt and disappointed. For this reason, I am going to step away from day-to-day operations of my businesses. We built these restaurants so that our guests could have fun and indulge, but I took that too far in my own behavior. I won't make that mistake again. I want any place I am associated with to feel comfortable and safe for the people who work or dine there.  I know my actions have disappointed many people. The successes I have enjoyed are owned by everyone on my team. The failures are mine alone. To the people who have been at my side during this time - my family, my partners, my employees, my friends, my fans - I am grateful for your support and hopeful that I can regain your respect and trust. I will spend the next period of time trying to do that."

Ed Sheeran has been named Billboard's Artist of the Year.  Sheeran is the first British male soloist to be the year’s top artist since George Michael in 1988. (Billboard started compiling a year-end top-artist list in 1981.) And "Shape of You" is the number-one Billboard Hot 100 Song of the Year. The Divide track was number-one for 12 weeks and set the record for the longest run ever in the Top 10 at 33 weeks.  Sheeran's "Perfect" just hit number-one on the Hot 100 this weekend, making him the only lead artist to have two chart-toppers this year.

Kesha and Macklemore are going on tour together!  “The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore” will kick off next year in June, and both artists are donating part of their profits to charities – Kesha to Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, and Macklemore to M Plus1, which advances racial and social justice through the M&RL Equity Fund.  The show is coming to Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater July 30th!

Congratulations to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who announced yesterday that he’s having another daughter.  He and longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian are expecting and are already parents to two year old daughter, Jasmine Lia.
