"American Idol" Official Premiere Date

“American Idol” will officially premiere March 11th on ABC with a two hour show!  Host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement yesterday, and he will be joined by judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan.  The show will continue to air once a week on Sundays.  The original “Idol” ran on FOX from 2002 to 2016.

Oprah Winfrey sat down with Harry Connick Jr. on his show, and he asked her who the most annoying guest was that she ever had on her show.  She explained the worst kind of guest she could have was the self-promoter.  “I had a guest on who was a lawyer…and he mentioned the book 29 times.  That’s after I started counting.  Every sentence started, ‘In my book, in my book, and if you buy my book,’ and so finally, around third segment, I said, ‘We all know the name of the book.  Audience, tell him the name of the book…so you don’t have to say the name of the book anymore.’”  She continued to say that she would take care of the book, so they could have a conversation.

Mariah Carey is one of the nominees for the 2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame.  She has the most number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, 17 out of 18 she co-wrote.  Other nominees include John Mellencamp, Tracy Chapman, Alice Cooper, Kool & the Gang, and others.

The Television Academy has banned Harvey Weinstein for life. In a statement, the Academy said, "We are determined to play a role in protecting all television professionals from predatory harassment, ensuring they are able to practice their craft in a safe environment."
